1. What HabitStories is

HabitStories is an iOS app that helps parents of children aged roughly 2 to 6 navigate nightly routines — bedtime, brushing teeth, bath time, and a few related situations — by generating short, personalized audio stories. Stories are produced by an AI text model and narrated with AI text-to-speech.

It is a parenting aid. It is not medical, therapeutic, or psychological advice. If your child has sleep, behavioral, or emotional concerns that worry you, talk to a pediatrician or qualified professional.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal age of majority where you live. You are responsible for any device you own being used with HabitStories.

The account holder is always an adult. The child in the profile is the subject of stories you generate for them, not the user of the app. Your child should not use HabitStories unsupervised.

3. Free tier and paid subscription

3.1 Free tier

10 personalized stories per calendar month (resets on the 1st at 00:00 your local time)
Offline replay of any story already generated
Bonus stories earned from sharing or inviting other parents — no expiry within a reasonable cap (20 stories at any time)

We may adjust the free-tier number (up or down) without notice. If we reduce it below your current balance, existing earned bonus stories remain available.

3.2 Paid subscription (Standard)

100 personalized story generations per calendar month, reset on the 1st
Two plans: monthly and annual, priced through the App Store
Auto-renewing subscription. You can cancel any time from iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation stops the next charge; the current period continues until it ends.
Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard refund policy.

3.3 Monthly limit and abuse prevention

Standard is not sold as unlimited. The monthly generation limit is part of the product:

Up to 100 generated stories per calendar month are included.
After 100 generated stories, new story generation pauses until the next monthly reset.
Audio replay of existing stories is never paused.
We may separately block automated or abusive traffic that threatens service reliability.

If you are a large family or a professional caregiver with legitimate high usage, email us — we can adjust.

4. AI-generated content

Stories are generated by an AI model. We filter output for age-appropriate language, simple vocabulary, and safe themes before it reaches your device. But:

AI output is not perfectly predictable. A story may occasionally feel off, sound repetitive, or miss your child's specific situation. Regenerate or pick a different scenario.
If a story ever contains content that concerns you, email us with the story ID (Settings → Library → tap story → i icon). We will investigate and, if needed, add patterns to our safety filters.
You own the audio and text of stories generated for you. You may share them personally. You may not republish them at scale or use them to train another model.

5. Invite / referral system

If you invite another parent and they complete their first story plus sign in with Apple, you both receive bonus stories. Rules:

Up to 10 successful invites per calendar month per inviter
Each Apple ID can be the "invitee" only once, forever
Self-invites (inviting yourself) and mutual-ring abuse are detected and denied
If we detect abuse of the invite system, we may suspend the bonus balance or invite code with notice

The 30-second audio preview on invite.habitstories.com is the same across all visitors and is public.

6. Privacy

See our Privacy Policy. Short version: your child's first name and birth date stay on your device. Story generation requests use an anonymous client ID plus selected story options needed to create the audio, such as habit, world, age band, favorite animal type, narrator voice, and tone.

7. Content you share

If you export a story share card or generate an invite link, the content may include the story title, a quote, and (only if you explicitly enable the real-name toggle in Settings) your child's first name. We default to using a nickname based on the chosen companion animal ("Little Fox") for exactly this reason.

Where you post the shared content is up to you. Be mindful of your child's privacy on public networks.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the AI model prompts from the app or API
Run automated scripts against the /stories/generate endpoint outside of the iOS app
Create fake Apple IDs to farm invite rewards
Abuse the invite link to spam unrelated audiences
Use the service to generate content that targets an identifiable real person harmfully
Share your subscription credentials

Violating any of the above lets us disable your device's access without refund.

9. Availability

We try to keep the service available 24/7 but make no specific uptime promise in v1. Planned maintenance is rare and usually unnoticeable (Cloudflare Workers deploys are zero-downtime). If a DashScope outage blocks generation, previously generated stories still play offline.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HabitStories, its contributors, and its vendors are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

We provide the service "as is." We do not promise it fits any particular parenting goal.

11. Changes to these terms

We will post any updates here and flag material changes in the app. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept them. If you disagree with a change, you can delete the app and cancel your subscription per §3.2.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where HabitStories operates, as disclosed in the App Store listing and support email footer.
